Synopsis: A group of aid workers tries to remove a cadaver from a well in a conflict zone. Somebody threw it into the well to spoil the water, so people can’t drink. But the simplest task becomes an impossible mission when the real enemy could be irrationality itself. The workers cross the frenzied war landscape trying to fix the problem, like guinea pigs in a maze. Sophie wants to help people, Mambrú wants to go home, Katya once wanted Mambrú. Damir wants the war to end, Nikola wants a soccer ball, B doesn`t know what he wants. But what we want rarely matches what we need. Humor, drama, emotion, routine, danger, hope: it all fits in a perfect day…
ABOUT THE MUSIC: The dramatic music for A Perfect Day is a mixture of transparent synth pads, innocent piano melodies, some touch of violin textures, and rhythmic acoustic guitars. The sonority of the music is almost transparent, trying to suggest, more than to show. There are very few moments with underscore during the movie. Indeed the music is an exercise of creating subtle dramatic music in moments where the characters are overwhelmed by the painful situations provoked by the war.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: The violin, synths and some guitars were played by Arnau Bataller. Dani Espinet played additional guitars. The music was recorded and mixed by Marc Blanes at BSO Superestudio, Barcelona.
