Synopsis: After moving back to her family home to care for her dying mother, a nurse haunted by her childhood memories must struggle with an evil force in the house.
ABOUT THE MUSIC: to compose the main theme for this movie Bataller worked closely with percussionist Feliu Riera and prepared piano expert Juanjo Ochoa exploring unusual sonorities as the starting point of the creative process. They recorded old metal plates, tortured instruments, mirrors, stones, bones, etc to create a distinctive sonic palette that suggested the fantastic yet scary universe where the characters live. On one hand, the music sets a clear motive to establish the attraction between Victoria and her granddaughter Nora. On the other hand, mermaid-like haunting sounds, distorted and aggressive string textures, scary accents, and subtle murmurings make the score a dynamic and always evolving sonic experience.
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: The string orchestra was interpreted by the Kreo Musica Ensemble, directed by Rubén Gimeno and recorded by Marc Blanes at the Josep Carreras Auditory at Vila-Seca, Tarragona. The music was also mixed by Marc Blanes at BSO Superestudio, Barcelona.
